Halloweenmonster?

Der letzte Oktobertag ist dieses Jahr besonders schön.

Frische Luft, das leuchtende Herbstlaub und ihre feinen Pferde - was könnten sie mehr wünschen? Auch Foxi und Bianca sind fröhlich.

Fresh air, the beautiful coloured autumn leaves and their fine horses - what else could they wish? Foxi and Bianca are happy, too.

Ein kleines Abenteuer wär jetzt nett!

A little adventure would be fine!

Da! Hast du das gehört? Klingt wie ein Tier. Ein Hirsch? Oder - ein Bär?

There! Did you hear that? Sounds like an animal. A deer? Or - a bear?

Glaub nicht daß es ein Bär ist. Aber ich kann auch nicht viel erkennen. Was IST das?

Don't think it's a bear. But I can't see much of it. What IS that?

Jetzt ist es weg. Vielleicht ein Halloween - Monster? Bißchen gruselig, oder?

Now it's gone. Maybe some Halloween monster? It's a bit scary, isn't it?

Christo

Peter reitet schon richtig gut. Mit Adelheid macht er heute einen schönen Ausflug.

Peter now is a pretty good rider. Together with Adelheid he makes a nice trip today.

Igor ist ein großes aber liebes Pferd. Peter reitet ihn gern. Er hat die Herausforderung durch Felix nicht vergessen.

Igor is a big but nice horse. Peter likes to ride him. He has not forgotten the challenge Felix provoked. 

"Los, schneller!" ruft er. Und ab geht's!

"More speed!" he urges. And off they go!

Hui! Volldampf! Aber Vorsicht am Abgrund.

Heyyy! Full speed - be aware of the abyss!

Laß uns langsamer machen. Oh, was ist denn das?

Let's slow down a bit. Look, what's that?

Sieht aus wie von Christo verpackt. Witzig! Wozu soll das gut sein?

Looks as if Christo has wrapped it. Funny! But for what did they do that?

Keine Ahnung. Laß uns heimreiten. Mama hat Kuchen gebacken. Ich bin hungrig!

No idea. Let's ride home, Mum has made some cake. I'm hungry!

Folgsam / Follow me!

Adelheid und Peter sind auf Foxi und Fallada unterwegs, um Bianca und Griselda von der Weide zu holen.

Adelheid and Peter with Foxi and Fallada are on their way to fetch Bianca and Griselda from the pasture.

Sie finden beide Stuten fröhlich auf der Wiese. Aber was ist das?

They find both mares happy on the grass. But what's that?

Da ist ein Fremdling! Er scheint die Stuten entdeckt zu haben.

There is a stranger. He seems to have discovered the mares.

Er nimmt zu Bianca und Griselda Kontakt auf. Das scheint sie nicht zu stören.

He contacts Bianca and Griselda. This seems not to bother them.

Wir sollten ihn mitnehmen. Aber wie machen wir das?

We should take him with us. But how shall we do that?

Ganz einfach! Er folgt den Stuten. Kein Wunder: es ist Igor, Mamas erstes Pferd. Er war auf der Sommerweide und kommt nun heim!

It's easy! He follows with the mares. Little wonder: it's Igor. He's Mum's first horse and has been on the pastures all the summer. Now he's coming back home!

Herbstmädchen / Autumn Girl

 Peter träumt gerne bei der Stallarbeit - Adelheid hat sich beeilt, damit sie mehr Zeit zum Reiten hat. 

Peter is a daydreamer - especially when doing stable work. Adelheid had done it in a hurry because she wanted more time for riding. 

Fröhlich sattelt sie Foxi. Die kleine Stute ist noch nicht lange bei uns, Adelheid reitet sie heute zum ersten Mal.

Happily she saddles Foxi. The little mare is new in our family, Adelheid will ride her for the first time today.

Du paßt toll zu den herrlichen Herbstfarben! Ich sollte dich "Herbstmädchen" nennen!

You fit well with those wonderful autumn colours! I should name you "Autumn Girl"!

Aber ich will dich ja das ganze Jahr über reiten. Du bist ein feines Pferd - und schlau! Du bist wirklich eine "Foxi"!

But I want to ride you all the year. You're a fine horse - and clever. You're a real "Foxi"!

Einfach mal laufen lassen / Let's run a bit

Natürlich darf Danny nun Bianca reiten. Adelheid fühlt sich wohl auf Ostwind - am liebsten würde sie ihn behalten. Pippa ist mit Liebknecht sehr zufrieden. 

Naturally Danny is allowed to ride Bianca. Adelheid is happy with Ostwind - she would like to keep him. Pippa is pleased with Liebknecht.

Alle drei genießen die schöne Landschaft. Doch wo bleibt Peter?

All three of them enjoy the beautiful landscape. But where is Peter?

Da kommt er mit rasantem Tempo. Aber was ist das? Es scheint, er kann den großen Hengst nicht anhalten. Wird er die anderen rammen?

He's coming with high speed. But what's that? It seems he can't stop the big stallion. Will he bump into the others?

Eeeeaaasyyyy! 

Puh! Zu guter Letzt wird er doch langsamer. Peter ist noch ganz zittrig. Wäre es nicht besser wenn Danny das starke Pferd mal so richtig rennen läßt?

Eeeaaasyyyy! 

Aaah he slows down at last. Peter still is shaken. Would'nt it be better to let Danny run out the strong horse?

Gute Idee! Danny ist der geborene Reiter und hat kein Problem mit Don Alfonso. Beide genießen das Rennen, pesen los mit dem herrlichen Gefühl höchster Geschwindigkeit. Was für eine Freude!

Good Idea! Danny as a natural born rider has no probs with Don Alfonso. They both enjoy the run, racing along with the wonderful feeling of full speed. What a joy! 

Die anderen folgen langsam. Kein Grund zur Eile! Und Peter ist sich sicher: Bianca ist die beste!

The others are following slowly. No need to run. And Peter is sure: there's no better horse than Bianca. 

 

Das große Wiedersehen / The big reunion

Adelheid und Peter wollen ihre Cousins treffen. Sie sind am großen Teich verabredet.

Adelheid and Peter want to meet their cousins. They have arranged the meeting at the big pond.

Heute wagt Peter sich wieder auf Don Alfonso. Wenn sich die Cousins treffen, will er wie ein großer Junge wirken.

Today, Peter tries again Don Alfonso. When they meet their cousins, he wants to appear as a big boy.

Da sind sie schon! Pippa auf Ostwind, Danny reitet Liebknecht.

Here they are! Pippa on the back of Ostwind, Danny rides Liebknecht. 

Nun sind alle am großen Teich angekommen. Pippa und Danny haben die Pferde getauscht. Aber was ist das? Bianca wiehert - und auch Danny schreit auf. Kann das wahr sein?

Now all have arrived at the big pond. Pippa and Danny have swapped horses. But what's that? Bianca whinnies loudly, and even Danny cries. Can it be true?

Ja es ist wahr! Bianca ist die alte Blacky! Danny hat Blacky gekannt, er hat auf ihrem Rücken reiten gelernt! Und nun ist sie ein wunderschöner Schimmel! Und in so guter Verfassung! Aber Bianca hat ihren alten Freund Danny nicht vergessen. Beide sind glücklich. Was für ein großes Wiedersehen!

Yes it's true. Bianca is old Blacky! Danny had known old Blacky, he had learned to ride on her back! And now she is a beautiful whitey! Oh, and in such a good condition! But Bianca has not forgotten her friend Danny. Both are happy. What a big reunion!

Draußen im Herbst/Autumn Outdoor

Das Wetter ist einfach zu schön. Pferde bewegen im Sonnenschein - herrlich!

The weather simply is fine. Riding horses in the sun - wonderful!

Mit Adelheit auf seinem Rücken benimmt Don Alfonso sich vorbildlich. Herrliche Zeit in großartiger Landschaft!

Waldläufer/Trapper

 Seit Peter gemerkt hat, wie toll Bianca ist, möchte er gar kein anderes Pferd mehr reiten.

Since Peter knows how sweet Bianca is, he does not want to ride another horse.

Mit Bianca und Griselda auf breiten Waldwegen - da stört nicht einmal Hasso, der unbedingt mitkommen wollte.

On big forest paths with Bianca and Griselda not even Hasso, who by all means had to accompany, annoys.

Beide Stuten sind trittsicher, die Kinder können sogar schmale Pfade über Stock und Stein wagen.

Both mares are surefooted, so the kids can try even smaller pathes up hill and down dale.

Was für ein tolles Abenteuer!

Heute wollen Adelheid und Peter Don Alfonso und Bianca bewegen. Natürlich rät Adelheid ihrem Bruder, die liebe Bianca zu reiten. Aber Peter möchte das große Pferd!

Today, Adelheid and Peter want to take out Don Alfonso and Bianca to a ride. Naturally, Adelheid urges Peter to take sweet Bianca. But Peter wants to ride the big horse!

Siehst du, ich bin ein großer Junge und ein guter Reiter!

Heilbehandlung

Wenn die Schaukel- und Nachzieh-Pferdchen unseren Gnadenhof erreichen, sind sie heruntergekommen und mutlos. 

When the rocking an rolling horses arrive at our shelter, they are battered and down.

Das erste, was wir tun, ist, sie vom Brett zu nehmen. Wir lösen die Fesseln, entfernen Nägel, Schrauben, Zapfen und Pflöcke.

Meist ist es dieser erste Schritt, der das Wunder auslöst: erloschene Augen zeigen erste Anzeichen von Freude.

First thing we do is to unleash them. We take away the planks, nails, screws, pegs, pins.

This first step normally makes it: dead eyes show first signs of joy.

Hier sehen wir Blacky bei ersten, zögernden Schritten auf echtem Gras. Ihre Fesseln wurden bereits bei meiner Schwester gelöst, dort machte sie die ersten zaghaften Ausflüge und gewann neuen Mut.

Here we see Blacky making gingerly first steps on real grass. Her chains were broken by my sister, there she made her first walks and took new heart.

Es kann mehr oder minder große Operationen erforden, aber die Ergebnisse sind frappierend. Der plumpe Gaul vom ersten Bild ist nun ein prachtvoller Hengst, stark und schön: Don Alfonso El Toro Andaluz, kurz: Don Alfonso, erkundet das Unkraut des Hospitalgartens.

Das ist Blacky auf ihrem Weg zu Bianca. Die meisten Schimmel werden schwarz geboren, ihr Farbwechsel war durch Vernachlässigung ins Stocken geraten.

This is Blacky on her way to Bianca. Most white horses are born black, her change of colour stagnating due to her neglect. 

So sieht Bianca heute aus: ein schönes Pferd!

So sollten Pferde leben: frei in der Natur. Hier sehen wir Fallada, Bianca (noch in Entwicklung), Griselda und Leopold (der neue Ohren braucht), wie sie Don Alfonso und Ilka begrüßen.

Fallada ist ein feines Pferd. Er ist freundlich und nur manchmal ein bißchen frech. Und sein grünes Zaumzeug paßt prima zu seinem Fell - und ist nicht mädchenhaft.

Fallada is a fine horse. He is friendly and only sometimes a little bit mischievous. And his green bridle fits well with his colour - not girlish at all!

Wow was für eine tolle Gegend! Hier waren wir noch nie!

Wow what a beautiful place! We've never been here before!
